The shift toward Monero settlement on Tor-based marketplaces accelerated through 2023–2025. Markets such as Nexus Market default new accounts to XMR and route Bitcoin support exclusively to legacy migration. The economic case is straightforward: Bitcoin transaction graphs persist indefinitely, while Monero\'s privacy guarantees apply at the protocol level and survive the eventual deanonymisation of any single transaction.
